We’re excited to announce that the school in Kanjoka 2, Malawi has just begun it’s build!
This school was generously funded by Paul & Shirley Fell, and the DSNY Wealth Planning team.
Not only did they fund this school, they stood alongside the Kanjoka 2 community in Malawi as the first foundations were laid. They shared in the hard work, and connected with the community - creating a school and memories that’ll last for generations. Our immense gratitude goes out to the entire team.
Thanks to this team’s support, 511 students - with 271 being girls - will now have access to a safe and secure education.
Built in honour of their son, Dominic Fell, who also passed away in 2019, this school will stand as a lasting tribute to both his and Oli’s memories. It is a privilege to be a part of honouring Dom and his legacy.
About KANJOKA 2, MALAWI
Malawi, known as the "Warm Heart of Africa," is celebrated for its welcoming people and rich cultural heritage. However, many rural communities continue to face significant challenges, including limited access to quality education and widespread poverty. In Kanjoka 2, a farming community in rural Malawi, children have been learning in overcrowded and deteriorating classrooms with cracked walls, damaged floors, termite-weakened roofs, and little protection from harsh weather. These conditions frequently disrupt learning and limit opportunities for students to reach their full potential.
The construction of a new, safely built school block will provide a secure and welcoming environment where children can learn year-round. By reducing overcrowding and improving access to quality education, the project will help students build the knowledge and skills needed for brighter futures. This additional school block represents hope, resilience, and a lasting investment in the wellbeing and future prosperity of the entire Kanjoka 2 community.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Paul Fell shared a beautiful speech with the community dedicating this school to his son Dom, and Oli.

MEET ELINA
Meet Elina, a bright and determined 7th-grade student from the community of Kanjoka 2. Maths is her favourite subject, and she dreams of becoming a nurse when she grows up so she can care for and help others in her community. Outside of school, Elina enjoys spending time catching fish. Like many children in Kanjoka 2, Elina has big dreams, and access to a quality education will help her take important steps toward making them a reality.
