Three bottles of Clos de Tart 2002
Donated by John Dupont - Value £1500
Clos de Tart is one of Burgundy’s finest gems: one of just five Grand Cru Monopoles, alongside the likes of La Romanee Conti & La Tache. The Estate dates back over 750 years (circa 1250) and has changed hands just three times since then, most recently being acquired in 2017 for an undisclosed fee by Francois Pinault, the Owner of Chateau Latour. The 2002 vintage in Burgundy was very good and Clos de Tart particularly excelled in this year.
It will drink beautifully now and over the next 20-25 years.
‘The 2002 Clos de Tart Grand Cru has long been one of my favourite vintages from this monopole… the detail is breathtaking - one of those bouquets that whisks you straight to its place of birth, within those ancient stone walls in Morey-Saint-Denis. The palate is brilliantly balanced, utterly refined with lace-like tannin, perfectly pitched acidity and a gentle build in the mouth towards a glorious, saline-tinged finish that hangs like the final piano chord in an empty hall. Wondrous’
